Josh Altidor

General Superintendent of Parks Maintenance and Turf Management

Josh Altidor, born and raised in Haiti, is the General Superintendent of Parks Maintenance and Turf Management for the City of Boston. In 2013, he made history as the first Haitian immigrant to design and plant in the Boston Public Garden, the oldest botanical garden in America, earning recognition for his bold, story-driven designs. By 2018, he became the first Haitian-American to serve as Director of Maintenance for Boston Parks and Recreation, where he championed a sustainable and inclusive urban parks system that serves all Bostonians, regardless of their zip code.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry and Environmental Sciences from the American University of the Caribbean, a Master of Design in Sustainable Urban Environments from Northeastern University, and a Leadership Management Certificate from Harvard University Extension School. Josh is also nationally certified in green infrastructure.

Fluent in four languages, Josh enjoys speaking engagements, landscape design, and cooking in his spare time. He serves as an agriculture consultant board member for the Harvesting 4 Haiti Foundation and as an advisory committee member for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Public Gardens and Landscapes program.

Josh’s work has been featured in The Boston Globe, and he takes immense pride in his academic achievements, particularly his Master’s degree from Northeastern University, where he was named an executive alumnus. He aspires to inspire others and serve as a trusted advisor in his field for years to come.
