As the Senior Preservation Planner for the Landmarks Commission, Nick oversees the City of Boston’s Aberdeen and Beacon Hill Historic Districts—two of the nation’s most significant collections of 19th- and early 20th-century architecture. These neighborhoods are not only integral to Boston’s identity, but also serve as living legacies of its cultural and architectural heritage. Nick plays a key role in preserving their character through comprehensive design review, policy enforcement, and robust community engagement. He also leads outreach efforts for the department, working closely with residents and stakeholders to support inclusive preservation practices.

Nick joined the Landmarks Commission in January 2018, bringing with him a diverse background spanning planning, government, construction, account management, and social media engagement across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. His multidisciplinary experience gives him a unique perspective on how preservation intersects with modern urban life. A passionate advocate for livable cities, Nick believes that well-designed, historic environments are essential to civic pride, public health, and community productivity.

He holds an Associate’s degree in Communications, a Bachelor’s degree in Regional Planning and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Westfield State University, and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Cultural Heritage from UMass Amherst. Nick has been a certified planner through the American Planning Association (APA) since December 2021.

Originally from Agawam, MA, Nick now lives in Lower Mills, Dorchester. Outside of work, he enjoys long walks through the city with his dog Jacob, running, kayaking, reading, and exploring the Northeast’s dynamic architecture, food, and cultural scenes. A devoted music fan, he gravitates toward electronic, R&B, and pop—and is always open to new recommendations. A fun fact: after a stint working at the LEGO Group, Nick rediscovered his love of building LEGO sets, which he now uses as a creative way to unwind.
