Olivia DeCesare

2024 Summer Intern, Office of Green Infrastructure

Olivia is a recurrent dean’s list Political Communication major with a minor in Environmental Studies at Emerson College. She currently interns at Boston City Hall in the Mayor’s Office of Green Infrastructure, where she authors social media posts and monthly newsletters. Previously, she worked for Congressman Stephen F. Lynch and the grassroots organization Rank the Vote Ohio. Olivia grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, before moving to Boston. While she loves the East Coast, she holds on to calling soda "pop."

Olivia’s skills in writing, digital media, research, and organization have led her to many leadership positions on campus. She is the Executive Secretary of the Student Government Association, Vice President of the Communications, Politics, and Law Association, Vice President of Programming for Alpha Epsilon Phi, and the Vice-Treasurer of her competitive debate team. She is published in the Emerson Green Magazine and Political Review, competed internationally in collegiate debate, and was the 2024 recipient of the Outstanding Student in Political Communication award.

Olivia is passionate about achieving political change by updating perceptions and understanding of politics. She is driven to promote systemic changes for equity in the United States by leading political communication teams in support of accountable leaders.
