John "Jake" Silveria

2024 Summer Intern, Office of Civic Organizing

John “Jake” Silveria is a Political Science student at UMass Boston, where he is also accelerating a master’s program in Public Administration. He is a student athlete, competing at the varsity level on UMass Boston’s baseball team. Jake aspires to pursue a career in government, where he can influence policy making and connect with constituents in order to facilitate an inclusive governmental structure. Throughout his life, Jake has always been an active member in his community. In High School, Jake worked as a camp counselor at a local recreation camp for multiple summers, and also participated in multiple community engagement efforts through different clubs and organizations associated with his school. At UMass Boston, Jake has served in leadership roles within the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Undergraduate Student Government. Both groups emphasize the importance of community engagement and inclusivity through programs such as little-league baseball clinics and partnerships with the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club.

When Jake is not reading about politics or serving his community, he enjoys staying active through pick-up basketball and golfing, as well as spending time with his friends and family.
