Christine O'Keefe
Christine O'Keefe is the Director of the Neighborhood Housing Division. With more than three decades of service in affordable housing development in the City of Boston, Chris brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to creating and preserving affordable housing in Boston’s neighborhoods.
Chris has played a pivotal role in the Mayor's Office of Housing for many years, most recently serving as the Associate Director of the Neighborhood Housing Division, where she managed a $160 million annual budget and oversaw a team of senior development officers. In this role, she directed key initiatives such as the annual funding Request for Proposals (RFP) for affordable housing projects, ensuring critical resources were allocated efficiently and effectively to create sustainable housing opportunities.
In her work at MOH, Chris has been a champion of the Welcome Home, Boston program, an initiative that provides City-owned land for homeownership development, with a focus on ensuring that this program not only creates affordable homeownership opportunities but also opens doors for Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) developers, as well as those who have not previously worked with the City. She has worked closely with these developers, offering mentorship and guidance to help them navigate the complexities of City processes, secure financing, and successfully execute projects, building upon the relationships she has with development and financing partners to expand opportunities for these newer development partners.
Working in housing creation, and ensuring that we create housing for all is the guiding principle of Chris’ life. A native of South Boston, Chris lives in Roslindale.
