Ian Donnelly serves as Special Assistant to Commissioner Carl Spector, and as Interim Plastic Bag Ban Coordinator for the City. In this capacity, Ian works closely with the Commissioner on a number of events and projects, as well as with the Zero Waste program, the Air Pollution Control Commission, and Landmarks Commission.

Prior to joining the Environment Department, Ian served as Program Coordinator for the Northeast Clean Energy Council’s affiliate Cleantech Open accelerator, where he helped develop business development programing for clean energy startups. Before that, Ian worked for the City of Cambridge’s Emergency Communications Department, and at BOS:311 as a constituent advocate. Ian graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelors in History, with minors in Law, Public Policy, and Political Science.
