USACE Coastal Storm Risk Management Study Comments
The City of Boston and the US Army Corps of Engineers received more than 350 comment letters on the Draft Feasibility Study from people across all walks of life.
In 2026, the City of Boston and USACE hosted or attended over 60 community events and engaged nearly 1,000 people to gather input from the Boston community and ensure the Draft Feasibility Report reflects the needs and hopes of the people who live, work, and play here. We are deeply grateful to the more than 350 residents, organizations, business owners, workers, commuters, and elected officials who took the time to submit a public comment this summer.
Across every neighborhood in Boston, folks were passionate about what this work means to them. Boston was clear:
- People are experiencing flooding, and Boston needs to help residents, businesses, and communities access short-term and long-term solutions.
- Waterfront access and the feel of our historic neighborhoods are essential aspects of our community identity. It is crucial that this project centers these values in its design.
- Engaging Boston residents, businesses, and communities at every step of the process is necessary for the success of this project.
- Many highlighted the importance of funding this work and provided suggestions and comments for USACE’s proposed alignments.
Before the end of October, we expect to send our first Boston CSRM Newsletter, with an update on where the USACE Recommended Plan decision lands and next steps for 2026 into 2027.
