Delivering Exceptional City Services
Boston strives to be the standard for delivering exceptional constituent services — on the streets of our neighborhoods, online and at City Hall.
The FY27 budget maintains key services Boston residents depend on.
Serving all Bostonians
The FY27 budget maintains key quality of life services for Bostonians. BCYF centers and libraries provide evening and weekend hours to ensure equitable access. Older Bostonians will use our Age Strong Department for transportation to medical appointments and the Boston VETS Department will continue need-based aid to eligible veterans. Our immigrant residents receive citizenship application and other support through our Office of Immigrant Advancement and summer jobs will remain ensured for every Boston Public Schools student who wants one.
A Focus on the Public Realm and Quality of Life
Public Realm improvements will take many forms in FY27, to ensure that public infrastructure is well maintained and convenient:
In the FY27-FY31 Capital Plan, the Streets Cabinet will:
- update intersections
- modernize parking meters
- maintain the City’s existing green infrastructure
- bring pedestrian ramps up to ADA compliance
- conduct crucial state of good repair initiative such as repaving and reconstructing streets, updating lighting infrastructure, and maintaining bridges
The FY27 Operating Budget also includes funding for a new parking ticket management system, replacing an outdated and obsolete legacy system. The new system provides for an improved constituent experience and protects a key revenue source.
