Creating Values, Goals and Measures for the Registry

We partnered with the Registry in defining its values, setting yearly goals, and identifying measures to track their progress.

Through meeting facilitation, document creation, and project-management, we supported the Registry in creating a yearly performance management system of values, goals, and measures. That performance management system has driven decisions large and small, while helping the Registry to better communicate its wins as they achieve them.

Why We Did This

A data-driven culture starts with knowing what’s important, and identifying what data can help better understand those important things. This is precisely what a performance management system provides.

What We Did

The engagement was separated into three parts:

  1. Values: A document that identifies four key values for the Registry and a high-level mission statement of what the Registry does.
  2. Goals and Objectives: A document for each unit within the Registry (four in total, including the Registrar’s Office) that describes their yearly goals and the objectives that will help achieve those goals.
  3. Measures: A spreadsheet to attach objectives to potential data sources. We identified about ten priority measures to operationalize and create query-ready tables for.

Results

The Registry now has a performance management system that can be refreshed regularly as their priorities evolve.
