Older Americans Act Support and Health Services Grant
Through this program, Age Strong seeks to fund supportive and evidence-based services and programming to help older adults maintain independent living in the community.
Through the Older Americans Act Support and Health Services Grant, the City of Boston’s Age Strong Commission seeks to fund programs that are providing a comprehensive and supportive social service system while promoting longevity and an optimal quality of life for older adults. The goal of this grant program is to leverage existing community trust and foster a sense of community within each neighborhood. Grants will be made to ensure high-quality social programs are accessible to older adults.

Program Details
Grant Priorities:
- Support older adult programming in the community at non-profits through cost reimbursement funding
- Help older adults maintain independent living in their communities as long as desired through supportive and/or evidence-based programming
Maximum Award Amount per Grant: There is no maximum award amount per grant. Awards may vary in size; Age Strong may award full funding, partial funding, or no funding. In the event that partial funding is awarded, Age Strong will require the grantee to submit an updated budget.
Title III-B
Funding Source: Federal Older Americans Act Funding Title III-B
Total Amount Available: Title III-B $1,018,238
- As mandated by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA), twenty-two percent (22%) of the total Title III-B Support Services must be allocated to legal services programming in the City of Boston.
**The total award amount available is based on the Standard Title III award Age Strong is allocated by the Massachusetts Office for Aging and Independence for Federal Fiscal Year 2027. If the funding is changed, changes to your award will be made at the discretion of the Area Agency on Aging.

With Title III-B grants, we aim to fund multiple agencies throughout Boston to provide supportive services to older adults. The programming may include services, such as: legal assistance, friendly visit, home repair, recreation, computer training, and translation/interpretation services. Title III-D
Funding Source: Federal Older Americans Act Funding Title III-D
Total Amount Available: Title III-D $95,000

Grant Eligibility
Grant applicants must:
- be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization or have an official fiscal sponsor
- work with, or on behalf of older adults in Boston
- be in good financial standing with the IRS and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office
- have capacity to successfully implement programming that supports social engagement (i.e., number of staff, staff experience, staff time, resources)
- be able to comply with the cost-reimbursement process, as is required by these funds. Cost reimbursement requires the grantee to incur allowable program-related costs, then submit thorough invoicing to receive reimbursement for those costs
- be able to meet the 15% matching funds requirement (at least 15% of the program budget must consist of matching funds, which cannot include federal funds)
Age Strong is interested in supporting nonprofits and organizations/groups whose work contributes to a more engaged and healthy Boston by building community.
Reporting Requirements
All grant recipients will be required to submit monthly or quarterly programmatic and fiscal reports to the Age Strong team. Please refer to the Subrecipient Monitoring Guide for details on monitoring, reporting, fiscal requirements, invoicing and procedural guidance.
