Personal protective equipment (PPE) for small businesses

We are making sure all small businesses can access the required personal protective gear and cleaning supplies needed to safely and responsibly operate.

It is the responsibility of each business to procure personal protective equipment (PPE) for employees.

The information below provides tools to help you determine what you need and where you can get it. This will help you responsibly phase-in services, all while keeping employees, customers, and the public safe, and following the state’s mandatory safety standards for workplaces.

Best practices for buying PPE

Keep in mind:
  1. Beware of scams. If you come across a fraudulent supplier, submit a consumer complaint to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
  2. Ask the supplier up-front for estimates on shipping and delivery times.
  3. Consider asking to receive a sample or documentation of quality assurance. This is especially true if you are placing larger orders or are procuring medical-grade equipment.
  4. Consider asking the supplier for other business references to verify reliability.
