Project Goals

The developer, Boston Communities, LLC, proposes the project, 4200 Washington Street, a  mixed-use, deeply sustainable, and transit-oriented project located in Roslindale Village. It includes a five-story building, 31 mixed-income residential units, ground-floor retail, and a community theater. The project proposes that 27 of the 31 residential units will be restricted at 60% AMI or below. The project aims to create a healthy integration of all income levels by promoting economic diversity and social cohesion within the community. and preserve the vibrant retail corner through partnerships with existing, local MWBE businesses.

Boston Communities is an experienced, 100% minority-owned, Boston-based real estate development firm organized to empower the next generation of diverse real estate development. The developer will also be working with Arx Urban, a minority member in the entity, who will provide support throughout the project on tax credit guarantees and construction support.

The new community will be extremely transit-oriented. 4200 Washington Street is just two short blocks to the Roslindale Village MBTA Commuter Rail Station, with a walk score of 96, “Walker’s Paradise.” The proposed community includes 38 bike parking spaces and two car parking spaces with a shared electric vehicle for future residents. The building will be an Enterprise Green certified, solar-ready, and zero-energy building.
