If your business owns personal property, you need to file a State Tax Form 2/Form of List every year. You have three options:
Before you get started online
You need to file by March 1. If you filed online last year, your username and password are the same.
If you haven’t filed online before, you will get a username and password in our January mailing. This allows you to file online.
Complete the online form
Before you get started by email
You need to file by March 1. To complete the State Tax Form 2/Form of List, we’ll need to see:
- a completed and signed Taxpayer Information Form
- a completed Personal Property Asset Form in Excel, and
- when it applies, we need to see copies of leases, exemption documents, and other supporting documents.
In the subject line of your email, you need to give us this information:
- [Business ID number], [Business Name]
- For example: 083176, ACME LLC
- (Your business ID number is a six-digit account number found on your bill and other Boston Personal Property mailings.)

Keep in mind
To make sure we are efficient and accurate, we require all personal property owners to file their form electronically. To get a paper copy of the State Tax Form 2/Form of List, you need to show us that you have a hardship that prevents you from filing electronically.
