We Are Boston
Celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month with us this June.
We Are Boston is an annual initiative by the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) that celebrates immigrants and immigrant contributions to Boston. This year's We Are Boston includes:
- A reception on June 12 to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month and recognize community partners that tirelessly and innovatively serve immigrant communities
- A workshop on June 12 for local cities and towns to collaborate on best practices for supporting immigrant residents
- Events during Immigrant Heritage Month in June for residents and families to get more connected to immigrant communities in Boston. Learn more and see the calendar of events!

Grant History
2024 Grants
This year's We Are Boston fundraising efforts will support MOIA's community-based participatory action research to help shape the future of our initiatives to support immigrants in the City. To become a sponsor, contact Paola Reyes (paola.reyes@boston.gov).
2023 Grants
Funds raised in 2023 went to supporting community-embedded mental health programming and to host events during Immigrant Heritage Month in June.
18 nonprofits received funding of up to $10,000 to enhance the well-being of immigrants in Boston, destigmatize mental health challenges, and encourage non-clinical, culturally and linguistically sensitive practices as a form of therapy, through the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement Weaving Well-being Grants. 14 community events were hosted across the City's neighborhoods throughout the month of June, including a soccer tournament, a film festival, and food festivals, amongst others.
PROGRAM HISTORY
Since 2015, thousands of constituents have benefited from programs funded by our grants, including:
- ESOL classes
- legal screening clinics
- citizenship application assistance
- mental health and wellness
- immigrant youth mentoring, and
- civic engagement classes.
These grants are made possible by the generous contributions from our annual We Are Boston Reception.
