Food Access Recovery Effort Initiative

Our grants will support small Boston businesses to provide consumers at small farmers markets a wider variety of products.

The grants will connect vendors with small farmers markets. Our goal is to create a diverse offering of products for all farmers markets. Priority will be given to businesses that offer:

  1. fruits and vegetables
  2. meats (beef, pork, lamb, and poultry)
  3. fish
  4. eggs
  5. dairy, or
  6. baked goods.

Farmers market vendor application

Eligibility

About the funding

Grant funding can be used to pay for operating costs at small markets that the vendor does not currently attend. The purpose of the funding is to connect vendors with farmers markets to promote an equitable economic recovery. Chosen businesses will be able to use the funding for operational costs, including:

  • personnel
  • travel expenses
  • marketing costs, or
  • market fees
For this grant, businesses must:
  • commit to participate consistently at one or more small farmers markets (attendance is up to vendor availability and discretion)
  • show a willingness to support and promote the farmers markets, and
  • offer eligible produce and products at the chosen small farmers markets.

Please note: Priority will be given to regional producers.
