How to get a senior discount for cable

Last updated:

If you're 65 or older, you can get a discount on basic cable packages. Find out how.

Step
1

Before you get started

We’ve only worked out a discount program with Comcast and RCN. If you use another cable service, please call them to ask about what discounts they may provide.

Step
2

Are you a Comcast customer?

Comcast offers senior citizens a discounted BASIC Tier cable package. To get your discount, call Comcast at 1-800-934-6489.

With the basic package, you get a number of channels, including:

  • PBS, CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC
  • New England Cable news, and
  • local programming from the Boston Neighborhood Network.
Step

Or do you use RCN?

Please note: RCN is only available in some areas of the City.

RCN offers senior citizens a discounted BASIC Tier cable package for $10 each month. Additionally, the cable box costs $7.99 plus fees and taxes. You may have to pay a technician fee. To get your discount, call RCN at 1-800-746-4726.

With the basic package, you get a number of channels, including:

  • PBS, CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC
